“From father to son”
It was a visionary project that Pierre Vandendriessche had, when he bought the property in 1998. Built on the ruins of a 17th century Castle destroyed during the French revolution, the house had been inhabited for more than 20 years. Without a proper electric and hydraulic system, the restauration of this place was a big challenge also for an experiment decorator as he was. His sons, Frederic and Jerome, joined to help him with the property renovation. It took about 4 years to make the main house habitable.
Although this “Maison Bourguignonne”, was meant to be his countryside family house, in 2003 the Vandendriessche Family opened the first “Chambre d’Hôte”. The presence of three big hunting areas near Courban, caused a regular flow of hunters willing to make an overnight stop in this charming and warm place.
Frédéric and Jérôme winsomely manage the Chateau de Courban & Spa Nuxe, that counts today 24 rooms, a fine dining restaurant and a Spa Nuxe.
“A traditional French Cuisine meets Japanese inspiration”
Overlooking on the terrace and Italian gardens, the Orangery is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Guests can have a drink next to the fireplace in winter, or on the beautiful terrace in summer.
The kitchen is run by our award-winning chef, Takashi Kinoshita. Passionate about food, he left Japan, to learn more about the French culinary tradition. He worked with Jean Pierre Billoux two stars Michelin in “Le Pré aux Clercs”, and Robert Bardot two stars Michelin in “Le Moulin à Huile”, and worked in the Elysée Palace.
Try the great things he does with the territory product, as an instance the Charolais Beef in gardens herbs crust, that is one of his signature dishes. He never stops to surprise our hosts taste buds with his French-Japanese combinations.
“The Spa Nuxe”
In this natural extension of the Hotel, gardens and the swimming pool, we offer you a Spa in a partnership with the Nuxe brand. This brand is famous for the Prodigious Oil and its enveloping scent. If you want to experience a relaxing moment in our Spa we suggest you the Mineral Escape, the exclusive Chateau de Courban massage with Burgundy pebbles.
