The city of Rouen presents in 2016 many new attractions, including the History Museum of Joan of Arc, and the Panorama XXL Rouen 1431 at the Time of Joan of Arc.

In the heart of Normandy, Rouen is riched of the most important site dedicated to Joan of Arc in France: the History Museum of Joan of Arc. Through an innovative scenographic circuit, designed by the Clémence Farrel agency, which uses all the very latest technologies (multimedia, ghosts), the site’s architecture and evocative power are used as a support for an original journey back into the medieval period of Joan of Arc and help to decipher the keys to the historiographical debates around this legend. The first part of the circuit is devoted to discovering.

On 28th May 2016, a unique experience is offered: The Panorama XXL Rouen 1431 at the time of Joan of Arc.  Yadegar Asisi’s new creation will be installed in Rouen. This worldwide exclusive attraction retraces the footsteps of Joan of Arc, who was burned at the stake in 1431. From the top of the cathedral, the work also illustrates the architecture of the Norman capital and the Gothic art which was very present at this period in the Middle Ages. An exceptional vision of Rouen, its half-timbered houses and its inhabitants.

Since 1st January 2016, nine museums have joined forces to form Rouen Regional Museums or RMM (Réunion des Musées Métropolitains). This new network offers free access, thanks to the Rouen Normandy regional government, to the permanent collections in all their venues. This is a powerful decision for tourism and culture that brings together more than a million objects and works of art ranging from prehistory to the contemporary period.

The region combines greatness and simplicity in the expression of its history of thousands of years. This home to Impressionism, recognized by famous writers and thinkers, has a living culture and an international influence that are a joy to discover. The art of good living and traditional farming values are charmingly combined here with the highest standards of French modernity. The conviviality of the people, the professional tourism industry and peerless infrastructures will not fail to enchant the visitor.
