A gastronomic city “par excellence”, Lyon has the greatest density of restaurants in France from famous “bouchons” to 90 starred chefs in the region. Lyon’s relationship with gastronomy is clearly based on a history, a practice, a place and iconic chefs.
Besides the reputation of Lyon’s gastronomy, this future International City of Gastronomy in 2019 is part of the unique and remarkable renovation project for the Grand Hôtel-Dieu. This is the largest private renovation initiative ever carried out for a historic monument in France.
Lyon’s International City of Gastronomy aims to give visitors the opportunity to understand all the components of gastronomy and to convey to them, in the most complete way possible, the rich variety of gastronomy in France and the rest of the world.
