School trip operators have been told to avoid Paris and the surrounding area if taking groups of British school children to France before November 29.
The FCO has told schools planning to take groups to France between now and November 29 that they should follow the French Ministry of Education’s advice not to travel in the Ile de France region which includes Paris.
But the advice stated that journeys travelling through the Ile-de-France region but not stopping are permitted, and that trips to the rest of France are now allowed.
The advice follows the events of Friday November 13 when a number of terrorist attacks took place in Paris resulting in widespread casualties.
ABTA, which has more than 60 members who provide school trips, said that schools are being offered the choice of deferring the date of travel, choosing a different destination or opting for a full refund while this advice is in place.
